Recipe Tricks

Wow... I'm not going to lie, tonight's dinner was a major disappointment. Brent has class until 9:00 on Mondays so I thought I would be domestic and cook dinner. (I could probably count on one hand how many times I've made dinner since we've been married... and I wouldn't need to count how many times dinner has turned out when I cooked because I'm sure it wouldn't be more than one meal.)
Anyway Brent and I have been super excited to try a recipe called "Joe's Favorite Dinner". Sounds fantastic!! The recipe seemed to have lots of fun ingredients... I was thinking it would cook up into something really spectacular! We have actually had the ingredients for this recipe for WEEKS... we even had to re-buy some of the ingredients because they spoiled in the fridge before we made the recipe!
Luckily today was finally the day to try out Joe's amazing delicious favorite dinner! I woke up early (this dinner required a crock-pot... which is why I hadn't made it before... I forget to think about making dinner in the morning before work). While I was pouring all the ingredients into the crock-pot this morning I noticed the recipe called for an unusual amount of soups... LOTS of soup, soups of every kind! But it had so many other ingredients I didn't let the soup bother me. When I left for work Joe's Favorite Dinner looked a lot like soup... but I figured since it was in the crock-pot it would transform into something amazing while we were at work and school all day.
When I got home this evening I checked on Joe's Favorite Dinner again... oddly enough it hadn't yet transformed into anything spectacular. But I still wasn't too concerned because I still had the final ingredient and direction to complete Joe's Favorite Dinner! Noodles! I poured in the noodles and waited 45 minutes. I ran back out to the crock-pot only to behold... CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP! Apparently Joe must really love soup. I admit... it was kind of disappointing to wait 5 weeks, two shopping trips for ingredients, and 10 hours of cooking time for chicken noodle soup. It was delicious though, and had some very creative ingredients... and if we ever feel like eating homemade chicken noodle soup I guess we have a recipe for it.
