Nine Stitches!! Ouch!!

Last night when I got home from work Brent was out in the driveway… he had his hand bandaged up and elevated. I knew something was wrong. He climbed in the car before I even pulled into the garage and asked if I could drive him to get stitches! YIKES! Brent had been preparing “Quick Lasagna” (so far Brent is the chef... he makes dinner pretty much every night!) and had been cooking noodles and thawing beef. The top, bottom, and sides of the meat were thawed so he was shaving off the soft meat so he could start browning it… he looked away for a quick second to check on the noodles and the knife slipped. He cut his pointer finger “pretty good” (to quote the nurse and doctor). He bled like crazy!!! I got home about 20 minutes later.

The weapon...

Honestly… it was pretty dang HORRIBLE watching the doctor work on Brent’s finger and give him PAINFUL shots and stitch him up! Brent is stinking brave! I wanted to squirm and cry for him!! Brent got 9 stitches in his finger and a really cool splint to prevent him from bending his finger! Exciting! We also got Arby’s on the way home! (Also very exciting… and much better than MY cooking!) I am SOOOOOO glad we were so lucky and the knife didn't hit any tendons!
I have to admit… our kitchen did look like the scene of a major crime! There was blood everywhere!! Brent even reenacted “the incident” for me so I could see where the blood all came from! I laughed and laughed… I still can’t figure out how everything in every corner of our kitchen was covered in blood! There was major blood spots all over the floor, blood on the cupboards and dishwasher, blood SPLATTERED all across the fridge and walls and table… blood was even on our mail! Apparently those new wedding kitchen knives are SHARP!! I’m sure glad we have doctors and modern technology to help sew Brent back together!! I’m also sure glad the doctor and nurse we saw last night have much stronger stomach’s than I do!! I had to sit in a chair in the corner of the room and look at my feet to keep from throwing-up! Brent is sure one tough guy! I hope his finger is feeling limber again in no time!

Brent is HEALED!! (Practically...)

Ouch is right! So sorry for your bloody tragedy. I know how blood can splatter. You'll probably be findings specks of it for weeks. I'm glad everything got all stitched up and I hope it heals well and quickly.

WOW! What a story. I'm glad that Brent isn't going to be the nine fingered man, and he didn't need a transfusion.

Oh for Pete sake! Denise has to wear a helmet everywhere she goes, and it sounds like Brent needs to be kept away from sharp objects.

Nine is a lot of stitches for one finger. It sounds like he carved it up pretty good.

When Brent called just after slicing his finger I was afraid he was going to pass out, he's much more brave with you.Blood slpattered every where doesn't surpise me this Brent. I can't believe you actually made it to the Jazz game that night!

I want to know if you left the mess until you got home from the Jazz Game. What a mess to come home to after a late game. Gotta love Brent! That is a lot of stitches for one finger though so I am sure there was copious amounts of blood.

Well, I am a little late getting to this post, so you are probably out of pain by now. Nine stitches! Wow, that was quite the slip! It was nice to know that you were being so helpful when it happened however. And, your mom didn't say a thing at bowling Friday....Good luck with the healing process. Love ya
