Snow Hiking

In honor of President's Day, I got to go to the cabin with my parents and Kris, Amy, Kim and JoyAnne! What a blast! The snow was PERFECT! I have NEVER seen so much snow in my life! All the snow made for some really nice snowmobiling!

On Monday (President's Day) we all went for a snow-shoe hike! I felt like I was in LOTR! Our mission was to scout out some locations to place towers for solar panels for some improvements at Causey... but I was pretty much just along for the sunshine! It felt so WONDERFUL to be outside in the FRESH AIR and sunshine... and to be MOVING around! The picture above is Dad (hiking withOUT snowshoes... we were two pair short so he and Kris sacrificed for the rest of us), Mom and Amy hiking at Causey.

For our hike, we drove the snowmobiles up as far as we could along a trail... and then hiked. (Kris actually drove one snowmobile past the trail and up and down the mountain-side until he got stuck... it wouldn't be a weekend in the snow without having a couple stuck snowmobiles!) After our hike we were all so glad to see the snowmobiles because that meant we could finally have a RIDE back to the cabin. (Kris and Dad had hiked without snowshoes... I think they must have wanted to WEEP by the time we finally made it back to the snow machines! There were quite a few times Dad would sink in the snow up to his waist! Luckily the "men" suppressed their emotions and didn't cry in front of the camera.) This is a picture of Mom, exhaustively clinging to the snowmobile.
